Cool stuff

This song is unique, and has a lot of neat elements. The background melody you bring in around 1:00 reminds me of slowed down Astral Projection stuff - very cool!

Just a couple of suggestions. First of all, my favorite part of the song, hands down, is the very beginning, with that awesome sweep intro into the song, fading into the eerie piano part. I would have really enjoyed it if there was more of that background pad/sweep effect throughout more of the song. Additionally, the song completely changes tone from 1:15 on, and while I do really like that darker tone there, it gets a bit repetitive by the end and the piano is completely gone at that point. Perhaps some more layers in that section, or possibly keep the piano going? I only say this because by that part I had gotten into a nice feel with the song, and then it completely changed gears.

All things being said, this is a great track with a sweet feel to it, and I will be very interested to hear any changes/additions you make to it, especially if you add vocals like you mention below. Good job!

If you ever get a free moment, please give my song a listen - thanks!

A real audio treat

I really don't think it needs to be said at this point, but this song is fantastic. It has an excellent dark undertone to it, which I think is key in great techno, and it has many interesting changes and layers throughout. Special kudos to the various drum rhythms you used in different sections, most specifically the breakbeat in the beginning and end - it rocks! It's really the cherry on top in those segments.

Totally awesome stuff, you're now on my favorites and I will be checking out your stuff regularly. Thanks for making this!

A good start

I agree with Soundgasm - the song has a lot of potential, as the melody is cool and could expand into a lot more. I personally think the song would benefit a lot from a solid, moving beat underneath it all, rather than the rhythm it's got now.

As a whole, the song just needs to get fleshed out a bit and it should be great!

Great stuff

I liked this one a lot. As the others have mentioned, the build in the beginning is great, namely the nifty "ooh ahh" samples. As you know from having reviewed my song, I'm a sucker for a good build-up!

My favorite part was when the main melody kicked in at 1:59 - that really rocked there. The modulation changes to the lead throughout the song were very cool as well.

Great track!

Another winner

I'm running out of things to say about your stuff! Much like your others, this is a fantastic mood song that really nails what it's going for. The clicking did seem distracting at first, but by the middle of the song my mind kind of just absorbed it into the whole experience, and it no longer stood out over the other sounds.

Your work reminds me a lot of Future Sound of London... have you ever heard of/listened to them, and if so, have they served as an inspiration? Just curious, as I love their stuff too.

Master of the mellow

You really have a talent for producing these smooth, flowing tracks. This one is perfectly named, by the way. Every element of this song is spot-on, particularly the piano.

When I listen to songs on NG, I usually find myself listening in too technical a way, analyzing the mechanics of the song, etc., but during this one I found myself actually relaxing into a very passive daze, my imagination resonating. That's the mark of a truly great song!

Great

I really enjoyed this. The smooth sound of the entire song, driven mainly by the first instrument one hears at the beginning, is just great. The rhythm fits the mood perfectly as well. I second what Haggard said below in saying that this would be great in any type of puzzle game.

Excellent, excellent work my friend!

Abrasive at times, but great melody

I really like this song, particularly the "intense" parts (the first of such being from 1:08 - 1:22) - those are some great notes in there, actually somehow reminds me of the music from the original Contra! The only thing I'm not crazy about it the instrument choice for the background melody... it's a bit too whiny or harsh, and it really came across that way (to me, at least) during the "intense" parts I referenced before. It detracts from the feel and build of that section. Possibly a smoother sound for that track layer? The melodies of the whole song are great, so I think that would help the lead really shine. Just a suggestion.

All in all, it's a great song!

Please give my song a listen if you ever have some free time - thanks!

I may redo this song, really, since it's all in all an unpolished piece of work. Some elements like the distortion on the percussion kick in when I don't really want them to and some of the tracks came out a lot rougher-sounding than I'd like, not to mention how the filter for the harmonics wasn't as dramatic as I wanted it to be either.

Thanks a lot for the feedback. I will be sure to incorporate it into any further development of this piece.

Chaotic... but cool

It's a crazy song, but I really like how the elements work together, especially the FX you bring in at about 0:28. The piano part is perfect - really makes the song. I think this would go well in a game, but only the right type of game. The song is somewhat hectic, so obviously you'd want it in a game that would produce that kind of situation (IMO). I only mention that b/c you said you were making it for your game.
Great stuff!

Please give my song a listen if you ever have some extra time. Thanks!

Hey, thanks for spending the time to listen and review! i appreciate that. [: Your two songs are very good, keep it up!

Very cool

While I almost don't want to say this due to your somewhat cocky comment, the song is very good. The texture of the main lead is awesome, and I really enjoy the melody it carries throughout. My only wish is that the chord change at the beginning (which is my favorite part of the song) was repeated again elsewhere, as it has a very cool feel to it.

Overall, a great song!

Please give my song a listen if you ever have some extra time. Thanks!
